Transformative and Restorative Justice Practices

9-hour introduction to restorative and transformative justice models

 

  • This session is for the general community and anyone who is interested in trying to build more just and relational systems.
     
  • This session provides working definitions and examples of restorative and transformative justice concepts.
     
  • The session also includes an overview of models and their advantages and limitations in applied contexts.
     
  • This session provides case studies and support to participants to choose the appropriate model/models for a variety of conflicts that are relevant to their personal, organizational, or community work.
     
  • This can be provided as a full-day event or 3 virtual sessions.
     

9-hour introduction to communication for peace makers

 

  • This session is designed for first responders, educators, and healthcare providers who are not official mediators or Circle keepers but find themselves with peace making or conflict management responsibilities.
     
  • Participants will engage in hands-on activities to strengthen understanding and confidence in communicating during times of tension and conflict.
     
  • This can be provided as a full-day event or 3 virtual sessions.
     

40-hour basic mediation training

This training is offered to the general community, specific professional sectors, and organizations to strengthen individual, organizational, and community capacity to address conflicts effectively and non-violently using mediation. 

40-hour basic circle-keeper training

This training is offered to the general community, specific professional sectors, and organizations to strengthen individual, organizational, and community capacity to address conflicts effectively and non-violently using transformative and restorative circles. 

Mentoring and coaching for restorative/transformative justice practitioners

This service is available to existing and emergent peace makers to provide space for reflection and collaboration to deepen or strengthen practice and can include weekly, monthly, or ad hoc coaching/mentoring sessions.

40-hour advanced mediation training

This training is available to people who have already participated in basic training and are interested in learning how to apply mediation skills to more complex issues, and systemic or relational dynamics. 

40-hour advanced circle-keeper training

This training is available to people who have already participated in basic training and are interested in learning how to apply Circle-keeping skills to more complex issues, and relational or systemic dynamics.

40-hour basic facilitation training

This training is available to community volunteers, leaders, or professional who are new or experienced facilitators.  The training provides principles and concrete practices for designing, delivering, and documenting meetings that are equitable and inclusive.

Mentoring and coaching for facilitators who work in community settings

Direct support

An individual mediator, circle-keeper, or facilitator can provide support to individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities who are experiencing conflict and interested in support in addressing concerns.  All types of cases include conflict assessment, bringing people together, the potential for caucusing, and documentation of the process, agreement(s), next steps.
